Flower power

SWEET: It goes without saying that I'm usually in a pretty cranky mood upon arriving at work. Because, you know, I'm going to work. I pull into the parking lot (today right in front of a guy I have never spoken to but have dubbed -- in my mind -- "that fucking douchebag") and stare at the corporate prison I'm about to enter. But! In the past couple days, these freaking crabapple (I only know this cause Becky told me) trees have bloomed and they are this fantastic shade of HOT PINK! AND, because of the rain or wind or whatever, the blossoms have fallen and made this beautiful blanket of pink on the sidewalks! It's so surreal. This morning I even uttered the phrase, "It's like a fairytale" -- and for anyone who knows me, that is not something that would normally come out of my mouth. Anyway, I was talking to Becky about it, and we decided we must go out and take a picture. I figured this was something I had to at least post on my blog. So we got my work camera and headed down, stopping for coffee on our way. We ignored our co-workers who looked at us with curiosity (and a smidge of judgement, I do believe), and approached the trees in question. It was beautiful. The sun was filtering through the trees, the pink blossoms were vibrant ...

SOUR: And the batteries in the camera were dead.
