Back to business

SOUR: The first Monday back after a couple of short weeks and fantastic holidays. I, of course, forgot my ID badge that is required to get on the elevator and into my office. I walked in and timidly approached the security desk, the intimidating guard looming over me. "I forgot my badge," I say, giving him my best puppy dog, dumb-blonde look. He hands me my newspapers and says, "I'll let you on the elevator." "Don't I have to fill out the form?" I ask. "No, it's OK," he replies.

What! Usually I have to go through at least five minutes of harassment and belittlement in order to obtain a temporary badge. But today, I slide through unscathed.

Until I get to the second floor and realize I can't get into the HR department without my badge. And no one is here yet because it's 7:30 a.m. Just another reason NOT to show up early for work on a Monday! So I start walking aimlessly around the building, slowly making my way back to the elevators and security. And then lo and behold, a co-worker appears and I follow her into our area.

That was a long explanation, but you just have to understand what it's like working in such an f-ing secure area.

SOUR: My latest Luna-injury is an inch-long gash down the inside of my left ring finger. It makes it hard to type.

SWEET: Diane has apparently returned to blogging! This has inspired me to giddy up and post regularly here again. That would also prevent me from getting angry e-mails from Sarah saying nothing but, "UPDATE YOUR BLOG!"

OK. Back to work.
