Luna

SOUR: So this is likely a lot of my own fault, because I have a bad habit of believing that if I pretend something doesn't exist, then it won't. But then it usually comes back in full force to bite me in the ass, largely because of my own procrastination. So a few weeks ago, Luna randomly squatted in the corner where her litterbox used to be and acted like she was going to pee. I quickly picked her up and took her to her box. Then a couple times I noticed that she'd peed on the floor in her room (Mary's old room, where the litterbox is). I talked to my friend Becky at work (a cat owner) and she said it sounded like a urinary tract infection, which can be pretty serious for cats. We had this conversation the Friday before I was supposed to go out of town, so I figured Luna would be OK until Monday, and then I'd take her to the vet. Well, I didn't do that, and I can blame it on all the crap that's been happening at work and all sorts of stuff, but it really just comes down to the fact that maybe I didn't want to believe something was wrong. And also, it seemed like the problem had stopped. Really. She seemed to be drinking water normally and there were no wet spots anywhere on my carpet.

Well today, shortly after I got home from work and was doing my usual sitting-on-the-couch-checking-Facebook, I looked over and she was in squatting position. I went over slowly and picked her up and there were three little drops of blood on the carpet.

Naturally I have been Googling this and it is terrifying and I am slightly freaking out and very sad. And of course, I have meetings tomorrow morning until 10:30, so I can't rush her to the vet first thing in the a.m. as I want to do. My plan is to go to work, call the vet as soon as they open, and try to get an appointment as soon as I can.

She seems fine -- she's attacking my feet and biting as normal. But I'm still worried. I don't know what I'll do if it's something really bad.

This makes me sad. I hope she's okay. :(

I really don't think it's something really bad. This is EXACTLY what happened to Skitty Cat (twice). It's a urinary tract infection. It's gross. It's uncomfortable for the poor kitty cat. It requires you to buy special food. Sometimes, you have to have surgery, but I think that's in extreme cases (not this. this sounds more like what Skitty Cat had.) Then you have to buy really expensive food so they don't have another one.
