SWEET: I went by Food Lion on my way home from Virginia yesterday because I had been craving wine all weekend (we watched a lot of SATC). I hate the Food Lion in Lincolnton. It seems kind of dingy and there are always very long lines. There are only two reasons I patronize this Food Lion -- 1. If I am waiting for my Chinese food to be prepared at Panda (Panda is in the same shopping center) and 2. If I am coming into town from US 321 and need something from the g-store but don't feel like going through Lincolnton to shop at Bi-Lo. Anyway, I was on my way home and needed to make a quick stop -- largely due to the fact that I had the cat in the car with me and wanted to limit her car time as much as possible. So I went in Food Lion, dodging rednecks all the while, and I headed over to the wine section ... when something marvelous caught my eye. Seriously -- it was like there was a light from above and angels were singing and time stopped and it was only me and ... the beer aisle. The beer aisle! Somehow, some way, Food Lion has managed to seriously up the class of its beer selection; so not only do they have Natty Light, etc., but they also have a bunch of GOOD beers. And not just any GOOD beers -- they have Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, which sits securely in my No. 2 Favorite Beer position.
I didn't inspect the selection for too long -- I was blinded by the discovery of the Cherry Wheat -- but I also noticed they had Sierra Nevada Summerfest ...
... and some other vareity of Leinenkugal's, which is no doubt delicious.
So, it is definitely SWEET that the most SOUR g-store in town has this fantastic beer selection.
SOUR: Work. Duh.

Ok - so FL blows...anywhere. Sometimes I run to the one in Maiden (i.e. in AN EMERGENCY) but FL is the bottom of the grocery store food chain. And they always have like, 1 check out person, and like, 40 people trying to check out (WTF?), and in general it sucks. But good to know they have good beer. At least in L-Ton.
PS Program Panda into your cell phone. Call 10 minutes out (we've ordered from Panda 150 times in 3 years - it's ALWAYS 10 minutes) and then no killing time in sketchy FL. SWEET.
